Sartorial Summer

Tuesday, May 10, 2016

CEBU, Philippines - As the summer intensifies, light clothing becomes a necessity and hobbies are sought out for diversion from the scorching weather. Good thing, the urban dwellers’ thirst for the trendiest garbs and recreation was quenched during Ayala Center Cebu’s Sartorial Summer event at The Gallery one recent Saturday.

The event treated writers and style mavens to a night of boho-inspired festivities. Vibrant Indian- like tents were propped up against a wooden backdrop hanged with dream catchers. To complete the bohemian theme, guests were asked to squat on cushions on the floor throughout the night.

Bite-size treats and tropical drinks were served as the spectators unwind to good music and chatters of a lively company.

Aside from the edibles, guests were kept occupied at an arts-and-crafts section complete with kits and whatnots. Charm Tan taught the art of calligraphy, while Carolyn Kay Mante of Chinkaling Creatives tinkered with strings and beads in making dream catchers.

The night couldn’t have gotten any better, but it did. A fashion show of breezy silhouettes, fringed accessories and a mix of khakis and denims capped off the evening. The show presented the summer collections for both men and women of Elated, Felici, New Balance, Mango and Mango Man, Flight 001, General, Grind, Herschel, Res Toe Run and ROX.

Sartorial Summer did not only satisfy the Cebuano’s curiosity for fashion forecast, but it also provided ideas for surviving the heat far from the beach.  Photos by Chrizelle Monique P. Sta. Cruz (FREEMAN)
